Chapter 3 – Surprise Surprise

Life In Chile

Chapter 3 – Surprise Surprise
(December 2013)
9 Months to go

December in Chile is definitely not what we are used to.  Sunbathing in 36-degree heat, seeing Santa in shorts and no family. That’s just not Christmas to moi! So what is Christmas to us, it’s COLD, raining, snuggly pjs and many more but most importantly FAMILY!!

So, Surprise Surprise, we are coming home :)

Only our parents were in on the big surprise. Muhaha

We boarded our first plane to Brazil and then from Brazil we flew to London Heathrow.

We arrived at the Herycz Household where we climbed into the boot of the car and Mumma Herycz went to fetch Joel, Jodie & Jon from the house to come and open the boot. Joel opened the boot and just looked so confused but once it had sunk in he was so excited and we had lots of cuddles. Jodie & Jon were just chilled as always J they were just like oh hey! Hahaha we love them!!!

:) BOO :) Surprise number 1 CHECK!!!

The whole Herycz famalam were on lockdown, they couldn’t post ANY pictures or status or tell ANYBODY just incase it got back to my side of the famalam and ruin the surprise.

To throw off my brothers and sisters, so they had NO idea we were in England, we took some cheeky photos on the top of our building in our swimwear posing in the sun and the pool and decided to post them onto our Facebook pages on Christmas morning. MUHAHAHA.

For surprise number 2 on Boxing day (at Liane and Steve’s house) we decided that mum and dad would take the presents into their house and a few minutes later mum would tell dad to go fetch the rest of the presents from the car, on his way out he shut the front door.  Dad came and collected us from the car and we walked up to their front door and KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK!! Tayla comes and opens the door and shouts HEY THAT’S NOT GRANDDAD :). Liane and Steve were both in the kitchen organizing the food which is a perfect place to be to see whoevers at the door, as they looked round their jaws just dropped and Liane came running and we had the best squishy sister hug ever!!! Steve just kept staring at us and you could see his brain trying to work out what was actually going on haha!! He was so shocked!! Ryan and Emma arrived after us so when Emma knocked on the door Josh and I opened it with the biggest smiles on our faces. Lets just say they were in complete shock as well.

Surprise number 2 CHECK!!!

I wish I could upload the videos of their reactions onto here because they are priceless.

I am all surprised out now!! All in all I would say Christmas 2013 was and has been the best Christmas I’ve had so far in my life. I love spending time with the family and just enjoying being with one and another!! I’ve missed them whilst being away and cannot wait till we are all back together again!!

I love them all so much

Merry Christmas from the Herycz Jr Jr's!

Chapter 2 – About Santiago

Life In Chile

Chapter 2 – About Santiago
(November 2013)
9 and a bit Months to go

My first few days in Santiago have been interesting.

I’m going to sound like an absolute wally by writing the next part but I am just going to be honest! When I thought about moving to Santiago I was terrified. Here are my reasons why:

1.     Distance

2.     Thinking we were going to be living in a Shanty town

3.     No technology or internet

4.     Language barrier (even since being here we have been told Chile is probably the hardest place to learn and understand Spanish due to how fast they speak and its quite slang Spanish! UH OH!)

I think I will stop before you all mock me :)

But after being here for a few days I was definitely wrong. Santiago just reminds me of London but 30 degrees hotter :) haha! As you can tell by this internet blog they do have internet here!
It is definitely going to take a while to get used to how things work out here and to understand people. Honestly, I have never felt so alone as I do now as I feel my independence has been taken away completely. I love Josh and having him by my side but when he is at work I just want my friends and family to hang out with. I am too scared to walk outside incase I get lost and due to the language barrier and I cant ask anyone directions. It’s silly I know but I just hope I am going to be able to grow in confidence every day that I am out here, as I do not want to regret making the most of this experience. We are lucky to be able to attend the temple and church here and it is completely the same wherever in the world we will go apart from not understanding a word but I can still feel that the church is VERY true!!

But, it is a beautiful place and we are the luckiest couple to be having this experience especially before we have a family of our own.

Good luck to us.

Chapter 1 – Leaving On A Jet Plane

Due to having SO much time on my hands I have NO excuse to not start blogging again and to keep it at least a monthly thing!!
So here goes.

Life In Chile

Chapter 1 – Leaving On A Jet Plane
(October 2013)
10 Months to go

Well, after waiting months AND months to have the all clear to leave for Chile, we are finally on our way. After saying goodbye to all the famlam about 20 million times, due to dates being changed, it was finally time to say Adios.

We were flying from London Heathrow at 09:25 with Delta Airlines. Who knew that when you fly nowadays that you have the widest selection of movies EVER and you can even start watching them before you have even taken off (I’m sorry to all the professional flyers out there who I am boring but I have not been on a plane for a while!). Also, can I add the best plane food EVER, Green Thai Chicken and rice. DELISH!

Our first stop over was at Detroit for 4 hours. Due to me being a food ADDICT I took some time before our trip to research the different fast food restaurants (Fat Kid at heart!!).

Food stop 1 = The Baconater at Wendy’s (with extra grease!)

Our second stop over was at Atlanta for an hour. This was the stop over I was looking forward to the most but due to only having an hour stop over I wasn’t sure whether this second food stop was possible!! But, nothing will EVER get in the way of me and my second food stop!

Food stop 2 = Rice, Beijing Beef and Orange Chicken Combo at Panda Express.

I ran for my life and guess what we still made it to the plane with time to spare. But, as we had only eaten a few hours prior to this I was still stuffed so I left it for Breakfast :) Panda Express is still divine whatever the hour may be!

This last flight was amazing as we were able to share 4 seats between the two of us so we spread out and slept for pretty much the whole 8/9 hours!

Touch down in Chile!
Deep breath in....
Here goes an adventure of a lifetime!
